Power and Performance

The Aventon Aventure 2 Step-through is driven by a 750-watt motor positioned in the rear hub, manufactured by Aventon. With a maximum wattage of 1130 watts, this powerful motor propels the bike to a top speed of 28 mph when utilizing the thumb throttle or engaging pedal assist. It’s a Class 3 Ebike, meaning it’s limited to a top speed of 28 mph while using pedal assist. In some cases, this Ebike can be modified to operate as a Class 2 Ebike.

Battery and Range

The Aventure 2 Step through comes equipped with a 720 watt-hours battery located in the downtube of the frame. The battery is lockable and removable for easy charging, and it’s a standard 48V and 15Ah. While 15Ah is a decent capacity, we’d love to see a larger option in future models of the bike. According to Aventon, this battery has an estimated range of 60 miles in ideal conditions when using pedal assist level 1. However, real-world range will depend on factors like rider weight, terrain, and assist level, and based on our estimates, you can expect to get around 50-55 miles on average.

Design and Construction

The Aventure 2 Step through has a lightweight and strong frame made of 6061 single butted aluminum alloy. The bike has a low-step frame design, making it easy to get on and off, and a standover height of 19 inches. The reach is 14.75 inches, giving you a comfortable and upright riding position. The bike has a total length of 73 inches and a weight of 73 pounds. It has a payload capacity of 400 pounds, making it suitable for carrying extra cargo on the rear rack.

Suspension and Tires

The Aventure 2 Step through comes equipped with a front suspension fork from Aventon that has 80 millimeters of travel. This suspension fork has a hydraulic lockout function, so you can lock it out for energy-saving and speed on smooth surfaces, or unlock it for a smooth ride on rough terrain. The suspension fork is also adjustable for preload, allowing you to adjust the tension to match your weight and riding style. The Aventure 2 Step through has 26 inch wheels wrapped in 4 inch Innova tires. These tires are wider than standard road bike tires and offer more stability and grip, which is great for off-road adventures. The wheels have 12 gauge spokes, which are thicker than usual road bike spokes and provide a sturdier ride while protecting the wheels on rough terrain. The tires have a knobby tread, ideal for tackling dirt, gravel, and even light mud. While these tires won’t be able to tackle deep mud or extreme terrain, they’ll get you through most conditions you’ll encounter on your adventures. This fat tire electric bike gives you give control while riding.

Brakes and Safety Features

The Aventon Aventure 2 Step through is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, which provide reliable and powerful stopping power in all weather conditions. The brakes are made by Tektro and have a 180 millimeter rotor in the front and a 160 millimeter rotor in the rear. The hydraulic disc brakes are a nice upgrade from mechanical disc brakes, as they offer more modulation and require less maintenance. The bike also comes with a motor inhibitor brake lever, which means that when you apply the brakes, the motor power is cut off, helping you to come to a smooth and controlled stop. This is a great safety feature, as it helps to prevent accidents when you need to quickly stop the bike.

Drivetrain and Gear Range

The Aventon Aventure 2 Step through comes equipped with a Shimano 8-speed drivetrain, which provides a wide range of gears to tackle different types of terrain. The bike has a derailleur in the rear, which means that you can easily shift gears by using the shifters on the handlebar. The shifters are made by Shimano and have a smooth and reliable action. The bike has a 1×8 setup, which means that it has a single chainring in the front and 8 cogs in the rear. This is a common configuration for electric bikes, as it offers a good balance between simplicity and gear range. The bike has a cassette in the rear, which is a cluster of cogs that provides a range of gears. The cassette on the Aventure 2 Step through has a range of 11-34 teeth, which gives you a good range of gears for climbing and descending hills.

Customization and Comfort

The Aventon Aventure 2 Step through has an adjustable stem and saddle, which means you can easily customize the fit of the bike to your body. The saddle is made by Velo and is padded for comfort. The saddle is also adjustable for fore and aft, so you can easily fine-tune your riding position. The handlebar is made by Aventon and has a comfortable and upright riding position. The Aventon Aventure 2 features an adjustable handlebar height, allowing riders to customize it to their desired and comfortable riding position. Additionally, the bike is equipped with ergonomic grips made by Velo, providing a pleasant and comfortable feel during rides.

Controls and Display

The controls on the bike are located on the left side of the handlebar and include the throttle, the pedal assist levels, and the display. The throttle is a thumb throttle, which means that you can easily control the speed of the bike by using your thumb. The throttle is smooth and responsive, and it’s a great way to quickly get up to speed. The pedal assist levels are controlled by a button on the left side of the handlebar, and there are 5 levels to choose from. The higher the level, the more help you will get from the motor. The pedal assist levels are a great way to customize the power output of the motor to your liking. The display is located in the center of the handlebar and provides important information about your ride, such as speed, distance, battery level, and wattage. The display is easy to read, even in bright sunlight, and it’s a great way to keep track of your progress. It also has a good torque sensor that that allows you to have a fun ride while in control.

Aventon Aventure 2 review: Additional Features

The Aventure 2 Step Through comes with a few extra features that make it a more comfortable and convenient ride. The bike has a built-in LCD display that shows you your speed, battery life, and pedal assist level. It also has a USB port built into the display, so you can charge your phone or other devices while on the go. The bike also comes with a kickstand and a bell, both of which are nice little touches that make your ride more enjoyable.

Pedal Assistance and Controls

The Aventon Aventure 2 features a pedal system that incorporates a torque sensor, allowing for a more personalized riding experience. With the torque sensor, the bike responds to the rider’s pedal force, providing more or less motor power accordingly. This system enables riders to have better control over their desired pace, as the bike adjusts its assistance level based on the force applied to the pedals.

In addition to the torque sensor, the Aventon Aventure 2 offers the flexibility to adjust the Pedal Assist System (PAS) settings, which are categorized as Eco, Touring, Sport, and Turbo. These settings allow riders to modify their speed and effort level while still feeling actively engaged in propelling the bike forward, regardless of the chosen assist level. This design facilitates a higher heart rate without requiring excessive effort that leads to excessive perspiration—unless the rider chooses to ride without motor assistance, in which case a more vigorous workout is virtually guaranteed. The pedal system of the Aventon Aventure 2 enhances the riding experience, offering a harmonious balance between rider input and motor assistance.

The Aventon Aventure 2 is equipped with Tektro HD-E350 hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors, which contribute to its reliable stopping power.

During tests, the Aventon Aventure 2 demonstrated impressive braking capabilities. When brought up to 20 mph (the class 2 limit), the bike was able to come to a complete stop in just 18’11”. This result showcases the strong braking performance of the Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, surpassing the average stopping distance of similar fat tire e-bikes, which currently stands at 22’6″.

In real-world situations, the importance of reliable brakes becomes evident. The Aventure 2’s effective braking system allows riders to quickly slow down and come to a sudden stop, maintaining control in critical moments. This feature enhances safety and prevents accidents.

Adding to the bike’s safety features, the Aventon Aventure 2 is equipped with upgraded brake lights. The frame-integrated design includes rear lights on both seatstays, providing increased visibility to other road users. Additionally, the control pad features turn signals that blink, indicating the rider’s intended movements and alerting drivers behind them. The inclusion of a 30 LUX headlight further enhances visibility, especially in low-light conditions.

Aventure.2 Ebike – overview

The Aventon Aventure has established itself as one of the best electric bikes since its initial release. Naturally, expectations were high for its successor, the Aventon Aventure 2. Thankfully, Aventon delivered by adding thoughtful enhancements that make the bike both familiar and refreshing.

Similar to their Level 2 model, Aventon equipped the Aventure 2 with a torque sensor, which significantly improves the overall ride quality and creates a more harmonious connection between the bike and rider. While powerful 750-watt hub motor e-bikes like the Aventure can provide an exhilarating experience, there is often a sense of being passive and merely going along for the ride. However, with the inclusion of a torque sensor, riders can better dictate their desired pace by applying more or less force on the pedals, prompting the bike to respond with corresponding motor power.

In summary, the Aventon Aventure 2 Step Through is an outstanding electric bike for anyone who loves to explore off-road trails and tackle rough terrain. It’s a well-built bike that is both sturdy and reliable, and it has a lot of great features that make it a fun and enjoyable ride. The 750-watt motor is powerful and responsive, and the hydraulic disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power. The Shimano 8-speed
